Files, meet
object storage.
A practical introduction to buckets, objects, and static website content.
What is an object?
Object storage keeps data as objects. Each object contains the file data and metadata, and is identified by a key. An HTML page, a stylesheet, or a photo can each be stored as an object.
What is a bucket?
A bucket is a container for objects. In Amazon S3, an object key such as topics/storage/index.html can look like a folder path. S3 uses key prefixes to represent this organization.
From a URL to a page
When you open a hosted page, your browser requests its HTML file. The browser then requests the linked CSS and JavaScript files and displays the result.
Keeping the homepage at index.html and preserving the page paths allows links between the lessons to keep working after upload.
